what I have been doing while I avoid homework...

baking lots of cookies...

crafting...
my grandpa made this magazine rack a long time ago
and my dad let me re-do it to have in my classroom.
I love how it turned out...

Sewing...
I have made a few pairs of baby shoes and have even sold some.
Miss Amy is my model in this picture...

I helped my new friend Alice make these little purses for her 3 adorable girls...
It was our Conference weekend project and they turned out so cute.

I am also halfway through my chair re-do project,
started on my latest quilt
and have also begun collecting items for my classroom

It's not much, but it's a start.
I am so very excited and nervous for everything coming my way.

So even though I have procrastinated homework, I have accomplished other things.
I call it...
Productive Procrastination.

A Fine Finley

April 16, 2011
Aunt Reilly, Aunt Crystal and Finley Mae
Destination: Build-A-Bear

After a quick stop at the car wash, Reilly and I headed over to pick up Miss Fin and then we were off to the Gateway for a good time.

First stop: Build-A-Bear Work shop.
After parking, figuring out how to work the stroller, and grabbing all of our bags, we were ready to build us a bear.
Finley chose the Midnight Bear within seconds of walking in the door.
She also pointed to the neon pink bear immediately after but Reilly and I steered her away from it and any other not so snuggling bear. Next we stuffed it full of bear-guts including a heart that we each got to give a little kiss. Once Caroline (Finley needed some help with the naming process, so Rei and I decided on Caroline) was sewn up, Finley did an excellent job of brushing her fur and getting her ready for a cute outfit.
Finley needed some help with deciding on an outfit too, so we helped out again.
We quickly registered Caroline at the computer, (Finley helped with the typing) paid for her and then hurried out of the busy store. Why are there no pictures of this momentous occasion you ask? Because between an excited 1-year old, a bear, a stroller and 50 million children with their parents, the last thing I had time to think about was getting out the camera. That's why.

Next stop: Ben and Jerry's.
Yum.
It was a little store that was a lot crowded, but so worth it. Finley was very polite and said hi to all the kids while we waited in line. She also pointed to the ceramic cow on the counter and said, "Baaa." I tried to explain that is was a cow and not a sheep, but she didn't listen.
Eventually we got our ice cream and found a nice place to sit and enjoy the sunshine while we devoured our delicious ice-cream.
Finley devoured our delicious ice-cream, but was kind enough to share some.

When the ice-cream was gone, we looked out over the balcony at all the people below.

It was very bright, so Finley asked for some sunglasses, naturally Reilly handed over her pair to Finley because "No" isn't in Aunt Reilly's vocabulary when it comes to Finley.
We asked Finley where she wanted to go next.
She looked around...
and announced, "To the Ladies room to change my diaper!"

After the mini-adventure to the Barnes and Noble restroom, we walked around the mall and enjoyed to beautiful weather. We made one last stop at the waterfall to snap some pictures of Finley with her new best friend Caroline.

We also taught her how to throw pennies into the water and make wishes.
She made lots of wishes, just ask my wallet. But I of course couldn't say no to her either.

It was a good, good day.

Finley and I are sure going to miss Reilly, but we are so excited for her adventure to South Caroline.
We've already planned the our next day-date to the Gateway when she comes back.

We love you Rei.
